Gate House
The 14th century Gate house built in 1345 from the local red sandstone is one of only five monastic gatehouses of its size left in England. And it still serves as the main entrance in to the grounds of Stoneleigh Abbey and also contains our small Gift Shop
Main House
As you first exit the Gate house ticket office, you get your first view of the main house at Stoneleigh Abbey, its a real house of two halves, to the left is the red sandstone house built in 1560 by lord leigh to be his family home, rising from the ruins of the original Abbey built in 1154. And to the right the large west wing extension added to the house in 1720;s by Lord Edward 3rd Baron Leigh
